Happy July!! Kiwi Lane Blog Hop

Howdy!  I know you probably have something great planned for this beautiful July weekend, especially if you live in the States.... but I sure am happy you took some time to make your way through another fan-tab-ulous Kiwi Lane Blog Hop!  I hope you've been enjoying yourself thus far and I'm betting you've seen some great stuff.  You should have come here from Jessica's blog.  If you didn't, hop on over to the Kiwi Lane blog and start from the beginning.  I'm the last one on this hop, but make sure you leave a comment on my blog (and all the others, including the Kiwi Lane blog!) for a chance to win a prize- a $25 gift code to the Kiwi Lane Shop!  Hooray!!

Here's a list of all the blogs in case you get lost along the way:

  1. Kiwi Lane
  2. Monique Liedtke
  3. Jennifer Budge
  4. Cari Locken
  5. Jennifer Nicholes
  6. Regina Mangum
  7. Becki Adams
  8. Julie Ann Cordero
  9. Jessica Laureano
  10. Gail Owens    (You are HERE!!)

Do you have photos of certain things that you don't scrapbook very often?  I have a LOT of photos from family fishing trips and they tend to get pushed to the back of my box and skipped over for photos that are "prettier."  Let's face it- girly pages with all the glitter, jewels, flowers and frills are just more fun!  So the fishing photos sit and wait while I work with photos that can have flowers and bling, but that's not going to be the case from now on!  Why?  Because I have the Happy Trails, Paradise, Wacky and Tiny Wacky template sets from Kiwi Lane.  Between those 4 sets, I have everything I need to make a fantastic (non-girly) fishing page:
I used some super old (but still loved... by me!) paper, embellishments and letter stickers from Scenic Route to make this layout.  And instead of cutting the Happy Trails into, well.... trails, I used just one edge to get a wavy line border.  I did the same thing to the strips by the photos on the left page.  See how multi-functional the trails are?!  Love them!  Here's what my page looked like when I "Framed" out my layout:
Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic!

And here's a detail of one of my fish with the twine/fishing line:

Kiwi Lane Designs Templates used:
Tiny Wacky 1T, 2T
Paradise 1, 5
Wacky 1, 2, 3
Happy Trails 1A, 3A, 3B

I hope this inspired you to pull out some photos you don't often go to, along with your templates, and see what you can come up with!  Do you think you need another push towards being inspired?  How about if a prize is involved?  A template set, maybe?
One lucky commenter on my blog will win a set of Wacky Accessory templates.  Just let me know in your comment what photos you tend to shy away from because they aren't what you typically like to work on. (It doesn't have to be a separate comment- one comment will enter you in both drawings.  You have until Sunday, July 7, 2013 at 11:59 PM MST to leave a comment.  Must be a resident of the United States or Canada to win template set.) Can't wait to see what everyone says!

Remember to leave comments at every blog along the hop to be entered to win the $25 gift code from Kiwi Lane!  One commenter from one of the blogs will win!  You have until Sunday, July 7, 2013 at 11:59 PM MST to enter.

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Scrapping!

Great layout!!! I love the fishing layout. I have a hard time with formal pictures or with pictures from school events. It seems as though I don't have catchy titles or funny captions for those, so they are harder for me to scrap. Thanks for sharing!

Love that you worked through the hard layouts. I find it hard to scrap professional photos.

I love your page and the fish! thank you for a chance to win.

I love the use of the template to make a border instead of a wavy line. I find it hard to put together layouts for pictures of my son doing boy things, like playing in the mud.

I don't like to scrap posed group photos! Your LO turned out really cute!

I have just received my first templates from KLD. You have inspired me to go to my craft room and create.

Love the fish on the line!

You did a great job on the page. I don't really have a preference for photos but I would find it difficult to document photos that deal with the loss of a beloved person or pet.

I LOVE your fish! How did you make the "splat" behind it? Thanks for the tip to just trace the side of Happy Trails for a border...why can't I think of these things?! I have a super hard time scrapbooking holidays and birthdays! There are just sooooo many monotonous photos!

I tend to shy away from the really important photos such as ones of my sister and mom who are now gone, and also of my wedding. It's like I have to have the most perfect paper and the most perfect design. I know that's not true...but it still keeps me avoiding scrapping these types of photos.

I tend to shy away from any photo with my husband and his friends. He loves to grill, so in the summer we have 4 to 5 bbq get togethers. Usually all the paper I have is very girly and the embellishments as well. Flowers just don't go with a man grilling! LOL. I love your page. The layout is awesome!

Love the fishing layout! I don't seem to have a problem laying out photos of any particular kind. However, I do have trouble coming up with titles for the pages. My titles always seem so boring.

A more masculine theme-I love it!!! Glad to see the Happy Trails templates using just one edge - clever! I tend to shy away from pictures of my husband's annual golf trip. After 17 years of marriage (and golf trips) they begin to look the same after a while. Have several fishing pics of the kids to scrap too!

I love your use of the templates and using the twine for the fishing line. I am new to KLD and I am excited to get started. The photos I most avoid are birthday pics - I don't know why but they all seem to look the same to me and I just can't get excited about them.

Great fishing layout. I tend to shy away from my granddaughters swim meet pics. But maybe with the wacky templates I would be able to come up with new ideas. Thanks for the chance to win!

Great layout and wonderful use of the templates. I have trouble making a layout when I don't have enough good photos of the event.

Great "boyish" layout. I tend to avoid the events that I have few or poor pictures. Thanks for sharing your layout and the chance to win.

What a great layout, thanks for the inspiration! I tend to shy away from photos of myself.

Love the layout, the fish and splat really make it! I think I agree with several of the other bloggers that birthdays and holidays are the hardest because they all look the same. Hopefully, KLD templates will change that. Thanks for the inspiration.

Awesome spread! I almost never do them anymore but with these templates they are easy!

Great Layout! I tend to avoid when I have too many photos of the event, like family vacations, because I hate having to decide which ones don't get to be used!

What a great layout! It fit a lot of pictures without looking busy. I tend to shy away from "action shot" pictures. I always go for the pictures where they are looking at the camera being cute b/c they are easier.

Great layout! I have a hard time with hiking photos and trips to National Parks. Thanks for the inspiration! Please don't enter me in your template drawing - I have that one. So nice of you to do a give away!!

Fun layout! Fishing won't be my favorite topic either. Sure turned out cute.

Hey Gail... I have a 5 year old granddaughter who loves to fish too!!! And it is true that we like to scrap the pretty pages with lots of girly bling. I love the way you used Happy Trails, Paradise, Wacky and Tiny Wacky template sets. KLD has fabulous templates and they are so versatile. Thanks for sharing the
Gone Fishin' layout. It is very creative. I am one of your newest followers. I am following by Google Friends Connect. Thanks for the inspiration and sharing your project.

Love your fishing double LO. The templates and papers and the fishing line...so wonderful!

I am more of a card-maker, but still there are certain papers that I can never quite figure out a way to use. Some templates might help!!! Thanks for the chance to win some.

I adore this layout and I have some pictures from my husband's last fishing trip that I have been putting off because scrapping pictures of my daughter with pretty "girly" paper is so much more fun. Thanks for the inspiration to finally get his trip scrapped!!

Cute layout....I like how you put multiple pictures on your layout. Very nice.

Fishing layouts are so much fun....I love that the "grass" appears almost alive. I, like you, do sometimes find myself procrastinating on the outdoor activities -- more so than the "girly" pages. Time to turn over a new leaf ;)

Thanks for the chance to win some templates. I am new to KLD and your blog. I sometimes tend to put aside "trip" pictures because I have so many. Maybe I need to make an entire album!

Love your layout, and it's great how you showed the picture of how you laid out the templates first. :-)
